HORSE TREKKING ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF REYKJAVIK ICELAND

As more people practice horse trekking in this area than any other in Iceland, there are lots of nice horse trekking routes and a lots of people knowledgeable in Icelandic horse trekking to be found here.

You can ride along the beach, across the estuary, by the rivers and/or into the mountains. You might even ride (like the Vikings did) to Thingvellir where the worlds first parliament was established in the 9th century. Thingvellir is on UNESCO´s list of world heritage sites.

There are horse trekking schools and official trip organizers as well as individuals ready to teach and/or assist you. You may be experienced or you may never have ridden a horse before. There is something for everyone. There are special programs for the handicapped and in July 2005 there are programs for children as young as 4 to 6 years of age. Just let us know what you are looking for by sending us a email to horsetrekking@rvik.com and we will give you some suggestions.
